I love Windows 7 and hope you guys come up with a more tangible solution. The device management console is NEVER “up-to-date” no matter how many times you restart it and the computer so the drive path can never be established. They both fail to show in my computer, but when inserted windows makes the sound, device manager refreshes itself but shows nothing new. Sunday, January 10, Tuesday, November 16, A new issue that came up for me yesterday was I had a Lexar that was recognized right away. Tuesday, March 23, 8: Sign in to vote.
The problem dtive that when I clicked on “my computer” i did not see it and then when I went to “Devices” in “Control Panel” it was there. I dont know what to do the computer knows it is there but does not show it as a Drive. Sorry for reviving this old thread, but I didn’ see any real resolution.

Had the same problem and changing drive letter worked for me. Im not going to format the drive because i know it works fine.

When I attached the flash drive to windows 7 it read it install the right drivers and said it was ready. The device management console is NEVER “up-to-date” no matter bytetsor many times bytestir restart it and the computer so the drive path can never be established. Seems like a stupid glitch for a new OS?
I’m having the same issues with Kingston and Cruzer drives.
Windows 7 Flash Drive Problem
If one is willing to let go of data, cleaning it up completely will help. A solution would be great.
If you formated the drive on a machine that recognized it, it would allow you so see it on the machines that originally had issues. But unplug it and plug it back in and the machine goes back to no seeing it. No USB flash drives can be opened.

Saturday, December 18, 8: I have Win7 64 bit not sure if that matters and was running into this same issue. The flash drives were Brand New out of package.
I had the Fit and the Edge with both had the same issue. When i check disk management the device is not their either.
